In Abu Dhabi's desert tourism market, 'luxury' is often used loosely to describe a nicer tent on a shared site with other tour groups arriving on the same evening. Sparkling Sandset takes a narrower definition: luxury means the camp is exclusively yours. We do not run multiple simultaneous bookings, so there is no other group's convoy on the same track, no shared dining hall, and no schedule built around anyone but you.

That single decision shapes everything else. Because we are not managing several parties at once, our crew can focus entirely on one arrival, one seating plan, one pace of evening. The majlis, the lighting, the music and the menu are set for your group specifically, not a fixed format run on repeat through the night.

We own the camp at Al Khatim outright and employ our own production, hospitality and kitchen crew rather than subcontracting the ground operation. The people who greet you at arrival are the same people who built the setup that afternoon and will strike it after you leave.

Sparkling Sandset takes a single booking per day. There is no overlapping session, no second seating, and no other party sharing the dunes, the majlis or the bonfire area during your visit. For a wedding or a corporate dinner, that means the camp reads as your own private venue rather than a rented slot inside a larger operation.

This model costs us volume compared with camps that run back-to-back sittings for tour groups. We keep it because it is the actual product our repeat clients come back for: a desert evening that feels private, unhurried and built around their group rather than a shared itinerary.

Our camp sits at Al Khatim, roughly 50 minutes from central Abu Dhabi and around 90 minutes from Dubai. The distance is deliberate: close enough for a comfortable transfer after a work day or a flight, far enough that light pollution disappears and the dunes read as genuine open desert rather than a strip beside a highway.

Al Khatim gives real elevation and open horizon, which matters for both the experience and the photography. Sunset, the blue hour that follows it, and a clear night sky are the backdrop to most evenings here, and the setting is unchanged whether the group is 10 people or several hundred.

Because the site and crew are ours outright, we host a wide range of occasions without changing operators or licences. Weddings and receptions run at full scale with our own catering and staging. Corporate groups use the same camp for leadership dinners, offsites and product launches. Families book birthdays, anniversaries and proposals at a smaller, quieter scale. Overnight guests take one of our glamping tents and wake up on the dunes rather than driving back the same night.

The common thread across all of it is the same private-buyout model: whatever the occasion, the camp belongs to one group for the day, run by one crew, under one licence.

Sparkling Sandset has operated at Al Khatim since 2012 and delivered more than 500 events across weddings, corporate work, celebrations and cultural programmes. We hold a 4.9 rating from 60 Google reviews, and 85% of our clients are repeat bookings, which is the metric in this industry that is hardest to manufacture.

We are a women-led operator, licensed by Abu Dhabi DED and registered with DCT Abu Dhabi, running our own crew of 40 or more rather than a network of freelancers assembled per booking.

Most private evenings run between October and April, when the desert cools comfortably after sunset and an outdoor programme needs little extra cooling infrastructure. We still host through the summer months, with additional shaded seating and cooling for guests who prefer a warm-weather date.

Because the site is genuine sand rather than a paved venue floor, we advise guests to bring flat or closed shoes rather than narrow heels, and a light layer for after dark, when the temperature drops quickly once the sun is down. We pass this guidance on to every group ahead of arrival.
