Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February in the UAE, according to Khaleej Times, citing the UAE Astronomy Centre. These are calculated dates. The UAE's moon-sighting committee announces the official ones.

The expected dates

  • Ramadan: likely to begin on 8 February 2027. The Shaban crescent is likely to be sighted on 6 or 7 February, and the report says the crescent will be impossible to see from the UAE, so Shaban is expected to last 30 days.
  • Eid Al Fitr: Tuesday 9 March if the Shawwal crescent is sighted on 8 March, otherwise Wednesday 10 March.
  • Arafat Day: 15 or 16 May.
  • Eid Al Adha: Sunday 16 or Monday 17 May.
  • Islamic New Year: 5, 6 or 7 June, depending on when Dhul Hijjah starts.

PublicHolidays.ae estimates the Eid Al Fitr holiday as 8 to 11 March and lists National Day 2027 on 2 and 3 December. It says its 2027 table is an estimate until official dates are released. Neither source states how long the holiday will last.

What changes for events

During Ramadan, evening programmes shift later and some venues change their hours. Cultural series continue: NYU Abu Dhabi lists Ramadaniyat: The Handover on 17 February. Big sport continues too, with the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships listed for 14 to 27 February, inside the first weeks of the month. Check each organiser's Ramadan schedule rather than assuming a normal timetable.

Planning around Eid

Holiday weekends fill hotels and concert halls. Eid Al Fitr falls just before Gulfood (15 to 19 March) and UNTOLD Dubai (19 to 21 March). If you can, wait for the official announcement before booking non-refundable travel, or choose a refundable rate.

We keep the dates in one place: Ramadan and Eid 2027 on Hadath.
